Favourites (March - July)

Favourites

So I haven't done a monthly favourites or a general blog post in a while due to being crazy busy with my HNC course and then just wanting a break from it all.  So now I’m back.  I’ve finished with the course and looking for work (o the joys).  So here is some of the things I have been loving over the last couple of months.

Cinema:

Magic Mike XXL

So I went to see the new Magic Mike XXL with my best friend and her mum, I have the first one on DVD and it’s not my favourite film, it jumps around too much it quiet dark and is hard to understand where as the new film is light hearted, fun, hilarious and not bad on the eyes it is so much better than the first. And yes ladies stripper convention exist in the beautiful US of A twice a year…. Think I know where my next girly holiday will be.

Minions

When I went to go see minions with my papa and step mom we were the oldest child and parent combo their but I’m fine with that as for Despicable Me 2 as me and my papa were also the oldest parent child combo again. I feel this movie was hyped up way too much, don’t get me wrong I really enjoyed it but I left feeling that I expected more, and I probably buy the DVD and watch it again. Saying that it did show a trailer for a new film for 2016 called The Secret Life of Pets which looks hilarious, it also showed the Inside Out trailer which I shall hopefully be seeing.

Spy

Before seeing Spy I was in two minds it was either going to be amazing or not worth the ticket prices, but I’m glad to say it was amazing Melissa McCarthy is one of my favourites actresses, she is as always funny and witty and makes the film. It’s a good Sunday film to chill and is an easy watch.

One film I haven’t seen yet is Jurassic World and I am desperate to see it, it was supposed to be seen by now but Magic Mike XXL and other things got in the way.  But I’m still fingers crossed I’ll see it before it disappears from the cinema’s.

DVD:

Focus

Focus I didn’t see at the cinema but I remember seeing it on the wall when I came out from watching a film. To start with I thought it would be very much car chases and beautiful women. (yup had no idea really what it was about but seen the interview or will smith on Top Gear) but It surprised me I really enjoyed it and all its little twists and ‘mind games’ and as from previous blogs you’ll see I vary in what I watch but I am very girly but give it ago if not pass it on to a family or a friend.

The Wedding Ringer

The Wedding Ringer is a light hearted comedy with a stereo typical ending if I do say so myself but it is a funny, easy watch with some ‘OMG NO’ moments if you’ve seen it all I’ll have to say is the ‘Dog’ moment and you now understand.

Taken 3

Taken 3 like most people I thought they can’t possible make another one and it be good but I was wrong it’s a good film and props to the person who had to advertise it and it’d over do it. Has a good plot feels new but familiar with having same faces includes very twisty and keeps you thinking.

Other films I bought were Kingsman and 50 Shades of Grey but seen as I review them in another blog post when I went to see them at the cinema I’ll leave them.

Beauty:

Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara

With all mascara’s I only ever buy waterproof due to I have the magic power of turning all normal mascara’s in to panda eye syndrome, it’s a gift. I find this mascara really good at lengthening and separating my lashes and so far no panda eyes so it works for me.

Hair:

Toni & Guy: Nourish Reconstruction Mask

This mask has literally made my hair so soft and helped it so much I bought it in March and ran out after 5 uses but it’s so worth the price and at the moment both Superdrug and Boots have 2 for £9 on all Toni & Guy products. I’ve already repurchased a couple of times and now have spares, I use it once a week and that’s more than enough for me. It also smells rather good too.

Ogx Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil extra penetrating

This oil along with the mask has helped my hair get the shine and softens, I use this after every wash. For an oil it doesn’t leave your hand feeling sticky which is a bonus point in my book. But it’s been great for my hair and could recommend it more.

Lee Stafford ARGANOIL from Morocco Anti Frizz serum Spray

This spray has been a life saver from my very curly hair in the humid weather in the UK (what the hell I was find with one extreme to the other but not this warm but not sunny malarkey) It keeps me with relatively straighten hair yayyy (and just me having relatively straight hair is a miracle for me)

Fragrance:

Ted baker Pink body spray

Ted baker have vamped up their new products giving them a very beautiful and expensive look and have the pink and mint collection I prefer the smell on the pink collection I find it more sweet smelling and I’m definitely a sweet person.

Soap & Glory’s Sugar Crush Fragrance Mist

This is the first time using the Sugar Crush collection I also bought the shower gel at the same time and it smells so good the mist is sweet smelling but an adult sweet if that makes sense it not to sickly it lovely and very elegant.

Emporio Armani Diamonds Violet

I already had the original perfume and I got an email from boots  saying this was brand new so I thought I’d treat myself to this and it smells so good also a sweet scent but like the sugar crush not to sickly and very elegant. I’d definitely buy again.

Everything else

Shower

Now for shower I just going to meant one collection by The Body Shop with is the New Virgin Mojito range which smells incredible and I’ve used to Shower Gel, Body Splash, Body scrub and the Sorbet. It’s such an amazing smelling range that lasts with the help of the body splash which can be put in a spray bottle and sprayed after you’ve showered. It’s a nice refreshing fragrance and if you love the smell of lime and mint it’s a must. Must say if you go into the shop to smell it if it’s the sorbet or body butter rub into your skin then smell it as it can be over powering straight from the bottle. The Body Shop have also done Gifts with this collection with a cocktail shaker and an ice bucket this will be a fun gift for a friend who loves cocktails but also smelling like mojitos.

Books

Books is a new section but I’ve been reading The 100 book and I’m on the third and final book I watch the tv series which is shown on E4 but it’s on a break waiting for the next series so I thought I’d give the books ago and I’m really enjoying them there is quite a bit which is different which I like then it’s not just repeating itself.  If you’re into Sci-Fi and hopeless romantic in a space ship that losing oxygen and is trying to find out if earth is habitable by sending 100 juvenile delinquencies then you’ll love it.

EE

And final something I got free from EE. The Power Bar if you’re an EE customer you could of claimed your own power bar in an EE store. Which charges your phone, iPod etc. it comes with an android connecter but you need your apple connecter to connect you iPhone or iPod. And the best thing is if you run out of battery when you’re out and you’ve got no charge in you power bar simply pop into an EE store and swap it for a fully charged one for FREE. Thanks EE.

March Favourites and Newness

March Favourites and Newness.

Seen as it's near the end of March i thought i'd do a favourites of DVD, Cinema, Beauty and everything else and share the newness happening with me.

Favourites

DVD

The Imitation Game
The Imitation Game is an amazing film based on a true story, it made me a little sad of what actually happen to Alan Turing just because he was gay but i already knew this living with a papa who is a big fan on WW1 and WW2. but i love films based on true stories (pride being another film on a true story i love).

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay: Part 1
I've seen the first films and never got to see this at the cinema, so when i went shopping and it was in my eye line i picked it up. This film is a great set up for part 2, a lot of people said it was boring and didn't like it. I really liked it but some of the acting was weird and a little bit laughable at points. Overall i found it a good film to watch and can't wait for Part 2 to come out.

Cinema
These films i haven't seen yet but can't wait to see.(and the did come out late march)

Cinderella
I'm a Disney fan so it's only normal i wanna see the live action Cinderella but i'm not that fussed about Frozen Fever if i'm honest. Cinderella looks flawlessly shot and magical. I've seen little clips online and it looks like its a little twisted from the original Disney's Cinderella. I'm loving all of the live action films Disney are bringing out of all the classic's and i can't wait for them to adapt more.

Home
Main reason i want to see Home is because Jim Parsons voice's the alien Oh and i adore him (mainly as Sheldon Cooper) but him being an annoying alien that's not sure of anything. perfect hopefully i'll see it if not it will have to be a DVD purchase.

Beauty

Skin Care

The Body Shop

The Body Shop have many skin care products and i generally use there cleanser, toner, moisturizer and also try out new products.
Camomile waterproof eye and lip makeup remover is my favourite makeup remover i use and I've tried a few but they never seem to take all my eye makeup off (and i use waterproof mascara) but this products take it of perfectly.
Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-oil, this I've been using a while as i have a dry forehead and this overnight serum helps it and has improved it.
Vitamin E eye cube, is a new product from The Body Shop and its to improve the appearance of tired eyes and I've only just started using it but it seem to be working on the dark circles. yayyy

Eylure
Eylure do a range of eyelashes and there the only brand i use for strip lashes i use the Girl aloud Kimberly's for ever day and the Dramatic 202 for Going out the Dramatic 202 are double layer giving them a fuller look and i love it for going out with. Feeling like Quoting Christina Aguilera in Burlesque "My eyelashes are so thick they could pick up a stiff wind".

Makeup Revolution
Makeup Revolution do a range of makeup but i'm in the love with the palettes they sell that are pretty cheap £6 for 18 shades of shimmers and mattes. I recently bought the 'What you Waiting For' palette with blush tones and some dark colours that all look perfect and are really good pigmentation which for the price is amazing.

Newness

So the newness that happened to me was i got a brand new tattoo of Talking Flowers and a Poppy for my Mum surrounding my Cheshire cat. All Alice in Wonderland unfortunately we didn't have time to finish it as time ran out but we got half way and there just the quote and the rest of the flowers and rocking horse fly to be coloured and i can't wait for it to be finished.

February Favourites

February favourites

Seen as it's near the end of February i thought i'd do a favourites of DVD, Cinema, Beauty and everything else.

DVD
All these DVDs I saw at the cinema

Dracula Untold
Dracula Untold is a great film even though Dominic Cooper’s accent is creepy and Charles Dance plays a very scary “master vampire”. Luke Evans is just perfect (eye candy) and he has his top off a couple of times so BONUS. But this film is another side to the mythical Dracula we all love to watch and read about and gives it another dimension to a villain.

Fury
Fury is a good film went to see it with my papa even though he was critical of what was used and how true it was to the times (he’s a big ww1 and ww2 buff) so seeing a film of that time that he didn’t critic took much was nice and Brad Pitt and Shia Labeouf (eye candy) overall I really enjoyed it and purchased it to watch again

Pride
Pride is definitely one of my favourite films it reminds of Full Monty and just good British films that are based on true stories. It’s heart-warming, witty, funny and a little bit sad. So Pride definitely has to be my number one film for February (even though it’s out March 2nd it’s on iTunes already and I own it so it counts as February)

Cinema

Kingsman: The Secret Service
Kingsman is a really good film and some eye candy which is always a big plus! Its action packed quiet bloody though so if you’re not good with things like that, like the villain in this film give it a skip but it’s a really good film I really enjoyed it and would happily watch it again.

50 Shades of Grey
50 Shades of Grey was an okay film, I haven’t read the books just heard about it and I know the simple ins and outs of this trilogy and for me it moved really fast from the first 20 minutes them meeting and a ‘love’ connection happened, but it’ll be interesting what they do with the next too.

Beauty

Real techniques bold metal brushes
Real techniques bold metal brushes – I bought these when I went shopping in The White Rose Center and I bought the 201, 301 and 100 which the 201 is an eye shadow brush, 301 is a contouring brush and 100 is a face powder brush. All the brushes are super soft and such nice colours and apply makeup really nicely.

Yves Saint Laurent number 1 lipstick
Yves Saint Laurent number 1 lipstick – I also bought this when at The White Rose Center. And thought I’d treat myself to a good quality red lipstick and this Yves Saint Laurent number 1 is perfect it’s a satin finish and goes on really nicely and it’s just so nice and long wearing.

Yves Saint Laurent rose gold touche eclat
Yves Saint Laurent rose gold touche eclat – This I didn't buy when out shopping I bought online from boots when it was a 1/3 off and I've always wanted to try this product just to see how good it actually is and I can’t fault it nothing much more to say then I will keep buying it.

Everything else

Office
Office – So I bought some beautiful rose gold mirror heels from Office and I can’t wait to wear them. So pretty.

Colours

I Love Crafty

And soon for the release of the new live action version of Cinderella she’ll be release her own Cinderella collection that she’s been creating, I’m super excited.

Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning

Spring cleaning comes once a year and normal it's just a big sort out of clothes i didn't wear at all last year and other things i no longer use and i either give them to younger family members or charity or if there is no use for them at all then they go to the bin (normally packaging i kept from makeup for no reason).

But this year i'm getting a new bed from my bedroom which will also change the layout of my room as at the moment i have a single bed and will be getting a double so as well as de-cluttering and cleaning I've also been buying new bedding and throws and other little decorative things for my room to change it little. Everything is bought just waiting for my new bed to arrive which will be the first week in march then i can change my room and put everything back in it's place as things are in boxes that will go into another room while my bed gets delivered and set up then i'll be set free to put new bedding on, put things under my bed and put my trunk in my room which will have some of my shoe collection in. also my new bed will also see the rest of the fairy lights i bought last year be out as i can wrap them round the head board.

As well as a new bed I've bought all new beauty equipment and products so i can treatment family and friends to gelish manicures or pedicure, massages and tinting and shaping of brows which i'm really excited about as I've bought lots of pretty colours and no chipping which always happens with normal nail polish and me.

So this years spring cleaning has been a good thing all round i get a brand new bed and i get to treat family and friends to beauty treatments.

It's Christmasssssssssssss

Alfie the Christmas elf.

'O I wish it could be Christmas everydayyyy'

Thought I'd start blogging and what better day to start the Christmas day, once the Christmas beast is gone, presents unwrapped and played with and even an afternoon nap taken place what better way to start a blog, full of food well rested and a toffee apple cider to drink (perfect).

(cue a picture of the toffee apple and a Christmas morning selfie)

So here is a list of some of my favourite things about Christmas/Festive season!

Things I love about Christmas/Festive period:

1. Family Party's/Spending time with Family
2. Putting the Christmas tree up
3. Christmas Shopping
4. Christmas pampering (nails, hair, face masks & products)
5. Christmas shaped foods
6. Chocolates (seems to be an unlimited amount at Christmas)
7. Christmas Films
8. Christmas Eve
9. Christmas Dinner
10. Presents (especially the one you knew nothing about)

I mean what's not to love about Christmas and most of the month of December. I mean seeing family like the whole family Christmas and a BBQ in summer is the only time my whole family get together to eat and be 'merry'.  So now I'm breaking down why these are the thing I love about Christmas.

1. Family Party's/Spending time with Family: My family are absolutely mad but all the best people are. so family party's/spending time with family are always hilarious and its always good to spend times with the family.

2. Putting the Christmas tree up: Putting up the Christmas tree is one of my favourite things to do. The tree goes up the first weekend  of December and has done for the past five years, normally its just me and my papa that put's it up and this year I had Disneyland Paris and Disney ornaments to add to the tree this year.

                       3. Christmas Shopping: Now I know Christmas shopping can be stressful so I only really do it once then buy what I can do online gets done online, but I love walking in York with the lights up, all the Christmas decorations, having a scrummy hot chocolate, all wrapped up, with friends and of course lots of talking.

4. Christmas pampering (nails, hair, face masks & products): Christmas pampering whether its a quick face mask on Christmas eve or a couple days or prep with hair, nails, fake tan etc. for me it has to be done. Getting glitter nails or Christmas nail art on them for the festive season. another amazing thing about Christmas is the Christmas products, Boots, The body shop, Lush, Disney store, Punky pins and the list goes on but to name a few of my favourites have to be the Ted Baker and Soap & Glory gift set that Boots.com bring out at Christmas. The Frosted Cranberry, The Ginger sparkle and The new one for this year Glazed Apple that TheBodyShop.co.uk bring out (and they change it every year). The snow fairy and the mass amount of bath bombs lush.co.uk bring out every year. DisneyStore.co.uk bring out Christmas mugs, soft toys, sacks and home ware from the Christmas season (mostly frozen this year). And finally PunkyPins.co.uk make jewellery but at Christmas they make Christmas themed jewellery so gingerbread house earrings, bracelets but my favourite is the 'Let it snow' and 'jingle bells' necklace which I've been eyeing up. (The list does go on but most of the Christmas stock is now in the boxing day sales BONUS!)

5. Christmas shaped foods: What's more Christmassy than Star, Christmas tree, Snow flake, presents or even a teddy bear shaped cookies or even crumpets and don't food taste better when it's shaped.

6. Chocolates (seems to be an unlimited amount at Christmas): Chocolates come in boxes, tubs, trays and of course handfuls and handfuls at Christmas. At my house it's like a chocolate factory and of course I have my favourites in different tubs normally the strawberry and hazelnut ones.

7. Christmas Films: Christmas Films everyone has there favourite's but if I had to pick one I'd pick Tim Burtons The Nightmare Before Christmas as my long film and my Christmas short film would be Father Christmas. (okay I cheated a little) and also love The Grinch.

8. Christmas Eve: Christmas eve and Christmas films kinda come hand in hand for me. Every Christmas eve before bed or an hour or so before I watch The Nightmare before Christmas then go to bed before Father Christmas comes.

9. Christmas Dinner: My favourite thing about Christmas dinner has to be pigs in blankets they are so good. but the whole meal is amazing and so filling and I don't mind a turkey sandwich the day after Christmas as its one meal a year. Everyday after Christmas yeah maybe not but there is only ever enough for one turkey sandwich each.

10. Presents (especially the one you knew nothing about):  No matter who you are everyone loves getting gifts and I love seeing people's face when they see what you bought them and how grateful they are but the presents you have no idea about are always the best like this year my brother got me Olaf from build a bear. (safe to say I was happy and of course I got 'i'm really a mermaid jewellery')

Merry Christmas Everyone
Hope you've had a Fab Christmas

So what's your favourite things about Christmas/Festive Season?
